Our two new part-time distance learning degree programmes at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, "Sports and Health Technology" and "Quantum Technologies", have been successfully accredited and start in the winter semester 2024/2025.

The six-semester, English-language distance learning Master's programme "Quantum Technologies" provides comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge about quantum technologies at an academic level. The interdisciplinary degree programme combines content relevant to quantum technologies from physics, mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering and information technology. It is explicitly dedicated to the areas of quantum communication, quantum computing, quantum sensor technology and quantum simulation.

Professor Dr Artur Widera, Scientific Director of the distance learning programme, is delighted with the accreditation: "We have put a lot of effort into offering very good further education opportunities at an academic level and thus being able to train and educate urgently needed specialists for new technologies."

The four-semester distance learning Master's programme in sports and health technology, “Sport- und Gesundheitstechnologie”, addresses the interface between organised sport, healthcare and digital transformation. The interdisciplinary focus makes it possible to build bridges between different disciplines and develop innovative solutions that have the potential to help shape the future.

This is because sport and healthcare are undergoing rapid change. Technological advances and innovative digital applications are penetrating the sports, fitness and healthcare market and leading to disruptive changes in diagnostics and therapy. These challenges must be taken into account. In addition to scientific principles, practice-orientated skills are of crucial importance in this dynamic environment in order to ensure competitiveness.

"The degree programme addresses the interface between organised sport, healthcare and digital transformation. The interdisciplinary focus makes it possible to bridge the gap between different disciplines and develop innovative solutions," says Professor Dr Michael Fröhlich, who is the Scientific Director of the distance learning programme.

"We are delighted to be able to expand our portfolio in the field of academic continuing education and distance learning with these two new attractive degree programmes," emphasises Dr Nadine Bondorf, Managing Director of the DISC. Interested parties can now apply not only for "Quantum Technologies" and "Sport- und Gesundheitstechnologie", but also for the 25 other distance learning programmes offered by RPTU.
