NOTES ON DATA PROTECTION AND SOCIAL MEDIA

The website of the Distance and Independent Studies Center (DISC) of the TU Kaiserslautern is complemented by official social media channels. Social media icons are integrated on the DISC websites, which direct users to the social media services. Data on the provider is only transmitted when the user clicks on a corresponding offer.

The social media services use and process users' data for their own business purposes.

You will find information on the data protection guidelines and possibilities for the protection of privacy on the websites of the respective provider. The DISC has no influence on the processing, deletion and storage of this data.

PRIVACY POLICY OF THE DISC FOR A PRESENCE ON FACEBOOK.COM

The DISC uses the technical platform and services of Facebook Ireland Ltd, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland for the information service offered here.

We would like to point out that you use this Facebook page and its functions under your own responsibility. This applies in particular to the use of the interactive functions (for example commenting, sharing, rating). Alternatively, you can also access the information offered via the site on our website at www.zfuw.de.

When you visit our Facebook page, Facebook collects, among other things, your IP address and other information that is available on your PC in the form of cookies. This information is used to provide us, as operators of Facebook pages, with statistical information about the use of the Facebook page.

Facebook provides more detailed information on this under the following link: http://de-de.facebook.com/help/pages/insights.

The data collected about you in this context is processed by Facebook Ltd. and may be transferred to countries outside the European Union. Facebook describes in general terms what information it receives and how it is used in its data use guidelines. There you will also find information on how to contact Facebook and how to set up advertisements. The Data Usage Guidelines are available at the following link: http://de-de.facebook.com/about/privacy.

The complete Facebook data policies can be found here: https://de-de.facebook.com/full_data_use_policy.

In what way Facebook uses the data from visits to Facebook pages for its own purposes, to what extent activities on the Facebook page are assigned to individual users, how long Facebook stores this data and whether data from a visit to the Facebook page is passed on to third parties, is not conclusively and clearly named by Facebook and is not known to us.

When you access a Facebook page, the IP address assigned to your end device is transmitted to Facebook. According to Facebook, this IP address is anonymized (for "German" IP addresses) and deleted after 90 days. Facebook also stores information about its users' end devices (for example as part of the "registration notification" function); Facebook may thus be able to assign IP addresses to individual users.

If you are currently logged on to Facebook as a user, a cookie with your Facebook identification is stored on your terminal. This enables Facebook to track that you have visited this page and how you have used it. This also applies to all other Facebook pages. Facebook buttons integrated into websites enable Facebook to record your visits to these websites and assign them to your Facebook profile. This information can be used to tailor content or advertising to you.

If you want to avoid this, you should log out of Facebook or deactivate the function "stay logged in", delete the cookies on your device and close and restart your browser. This deletes Facebook information that immediately identifies you. This allows you to use our Facebook page without revealing your Facebook identifier. When you access the interactive features of the page (like, comment, share, message, et cetera), a Facebook login screen appears. Once you have logged in, Facebook will recognize you again as a specific user.

For information on how to manage or delete information about you, please visit the following Facebook support pages: https://de-de.facebook.com/about/privacy#.

As the provider of the information service, we do not collect or process any additional data from your use of our service.

You will find the current version of this data protection declaration. You will also find the link to this on our Facebook page.

Further information about Facebook and other social networks and how you can protect your data can also be found on youngdata.de.

The DISC uses the technical platform and services of Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA for the short message service offered here.

We would like to point out that you use the Twitter short message service offered here and its functions on your own responsibility. This applies in particular to the use of the interactive functions (for example sharing, rating). Alternatively, you can also call up the information offered on this website on our website at www.zfuw.de.

The data collected about you when using the service is processed by Twitter Inc. and may be transferred to countries outside the European Union. This includes your IP address, the application used, information about the terminal device you are using (including device ID and application ID), information about the websites you visit, your location and your mobile phone provider.

This data is assigned to data in your Twitter account or Twitter profile. We have no influence on the type and extent of the data processed by Twitter, the type of processing and use or the passing on of this data to third parties. Information about which data is processed by Twitter and for what purposes can be found in Twitter's data protection declaration (https://twitter.com/privacy?lang=de) and about the possibility of viewing your own data on Twitter (https://support.twitter.com/articles/20172711#).

As the provider of the information service, we do not collect and process any other data from your use of our short news service.

Because Twitter Inc. is a non-European provider, it is not bound by German data protection regulations. This applies, for example, to your rights to access, block or delete data or to object to the use of usage data for advertising purposes.

You have the possibility to restrict the processing of your data in the general settings of your Twitter account and under "Data protection and security". In addition, you can restrict Twitter access to contact and calendar data, photos, location data, et cetera for mobile devices (smartphones, tablet computers) in the setting options there. However, this depends on the operating system used.

Twitter is able to record your visits to these websites and assign them to your Twitter profile via Twitter buttons or widgets embedded in websites and the use of cookies. This information can be used to tailor content or advertising to you.

The corresponding link to the current data protection declaration will be communicated to you regularly via a tweet.
