New boost for distance learning at RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau: Dr Edith Neuenkirch becomes Managing Director

On 1 September 2025, Dr Edith Neuenkirch became the new managing director of Distance and Independent Studies Center (DISC), RPTU University's distance learning center.

With her many years of management experience in scientific organisations, as well as her sound expertise in organisational and teaching development as well as quality management, her new position is a perfect fit for Dr Neuenkirch. Throughout her professional career to date, she was also engaged in teaching and research activities in Marburg, Trier and Waterloo (Ontario, Canada).

In her new role, she will be responsible for the strategic development of the institution and its study programmes. She is especially keen to involve all relevant parties and interest groups, inspiring them to explore new avenues. In the AI era, she particularly[KS1]  wants to promote innovative teaching, learning and assessment formats, and to make existing continuing education formats more flexible, ranging from individual modules and certificate courses to established master's programmes. 

Dr Neuenkirch is looking forward to her new role and to collaborating closely with the distance learning team, RPTU departments, and partners, both new and existing, in the region.
